Iranian deputy foreign minister, Kazem Gharibadadi, on Wednesday rejected claims made by the chief of the International Atomic Energy (IAEA) chief regarding inspections of Iranian nuclear sites. Gharibadadi stated that nuclear site inspections would only be possible after a final US-Iran deal.
The statement rejects claims made by IAEA chief Rafael Mariano Grossi that the nuclear sites of Iran will be subjected to inspections by the United Nations agency as part of the interim deal signed between US and Iran. Gharibadadi made the comments on X.
“No meeting was held with Grossi in Switzerland, despite his request. Nor is there any plan for access to the facilities that were attacked or to nuclear material,” Gharibabadi wrote.
“You cannot advance the stir up and take over policy with media hype.”, the minister added on.
Gharibadadi stated that issues pertaining to Iran's nuclear sites will be reviewed and decided only within the framework of a final agreement and as a result of practical action by the US to end all sanctions on Iran.
US and Iran signed an interim agreement to end the war in West Asia on June 17. The Memorandum of Undestanding (MoU) gives both sides 60 days to negotiate a broader, final deal.
